Sassy Dama was created for people navigating the realities of life after 50 – not the glossy version, but the real one.
This blog is grounded in lived experience, practical knowledge, and compassion. It’s for those who are aging, caring for loved ones, managing limited resources, and still trying to live with dignity, purpose, and clarity.
Created for Real Life After 50
Life after 50 often looks very different from what we imagined. Many people are living on Social Security while still working to make ends meet. Others are caring for aging parents, facing health changes, or redefining their role in family and society.
These transitions can feel isolating, especially when most advice online feels either unrealistic, fear-driven, or disconnected from everyday life. Sassy Dama exists to fill that gap.
Here, you’ll find grounded guidance that respects your intelligence, your lived experience, and your right to honest information without hype or shame.
The Voice Behind Sassy Dama

I come to this work with both professional expertise and lived experience. My background includes a master’s degree in microbiology, 10 years in hospice nursing, and more than 20 combined years in the hospital setting, rehab and home health care.
As of 2026, I have spent over 30 years working as a nurse.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with older adults and their families in the most personal of settings – their homes, their daily routines, and often during some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. I have supported families through aging, illness, caregiving responsibilities, and end-of-life transitions.
Over the years, I witnessed how medical realities, emotional strain, family conflict, and financial pressure often intersect – and how little practical, honest guidance people receive when they need it most.
My work gave me a deep understanding of the realities of aging, caregiving dynamics, financial vulnerability, and the often-overlooked risks of elder abuse and exploitation. I’ve seen how easily trust can be manipulated during times of illness, dependency, or major life transition and how difficult these situations can be for families to recognize and address.
In my personal life, I navigate many of the same challenges my readers face – balancing work while receiving Social Security, managing rising costs, supporting family, and adapting to the changes that come with later adulthood.
I am also a mother of grown children and a grandmother – roles that deeply shape my understanding of responsibility, caregiving, aging, and legacy.
Sassydama.com reflects the intersection of professional knowledge, personal experience, and genuine humanity. My goal is to provide practical insight, thoughtful perspective, and real-world guidance for people navigating the complex realities of aging, caregiving, health, family, and financial survival in today’s world.

A Gentle Note
Content on my blog is educational and experience-based. It is intended to help readers think more clearly, ask better questions, and feel less alone. It is not intended to replace professional medical, legal, or financial advice.
Whenever health or financial topics are discussed, the information is framed responsibly and encourages readers to consult licensed professionals for personal decisions.
What I Believe
I believe that aging is not a failure.
Needing support is not weakness, and surviving (financially, emotionally, and physically) deserves honesty, not judgment.
